Study Skills Week (Preparation for Summer Exams)

April 19, 2026

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As we settle back into school following the Easter break, preparations are well underway for the upcoming summer examinations. These exams will be similar in format to the Winter Assessments, however they will cover a wider range of content drawn from learning across the past nine months.

One of the most effective ways to support students at this stage is by ensuring they have clarity, structure, and reassurance in the lead‑up to their exams. Over the coming week, teachers will be revisiting key information in class to help students feel more confident, organised, and prepared.

These reminders will include:

  • A clear list of chapters and topics to be assessed in each summer exam
  • An overview of the length and structure of each exam
  • Support in creating revision plans, helping students break study into manageable sections
  • A focus on exam techniques relevant to each subject area
  • Guidance on effective study and revision strategies specific to each subject

While much of this information has been shared throughout the school year, we know that students benefit greatly from revisiting it at this point. This reinforcement helps them build momentum and manage their workload more effectively as exams approach.

Supporting Your Daughter at Home

To further support students during this time, the following strategies may be helpful at home:

  • Regular check‑ins: Maintain open communication and encourage your daughter to talk about how she is feeling about her workload
  • Awareness of study habits: Help her recognise the study techniques and routines that work best for her
  • A distraction‑free environment: Where possible, support focused study time
  • Maintaining balance: Encourage healthy eating, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep
  • A calm, supportive approach: Empathy and reassurance can make a significant difference

As part of our wider support, we will also be sharing a link to the Learning Together webinar series provided by Blackrock Education Centre. This series offers practical and accessible strategies for students and families working together during exam preparation.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. By working together, we can help students approach their summer examinations with confidence, balance, and a sense of control.

Kind regards,
