The school library aims to:
- Equip students with lifelong learning skills,
- Develop students’ imagination by encouraging and promoting reading for pleasure
- Encourage independent learning
- Provide a safe, enjoyable space for reading, studying and researching
- Provide opportunities for connectivity with other students through the Library Council, Book Clubs and a host of events which occur throughout the school year
- Contribute to the development of active, generous and responsible citizens
Our library is a spacious, comfortable and busy centre within the school. In keeping with our standing as a ‘Well Read’ school, we have a large and current fiction section within our print collection, along with a good stock of graphic novels, and audio books. Information material includes reference works, books on a wide variety of subjects and disciplines, and current popular magazines/journals. Guidance is provided on accessing online and digital resources.
The library is open and accessible throughout and beyond the school day. Students may use the lovely space for reading, accessing information, studying and group work. Books and other materials may be borrowed.
Library stock details and loans are recorded using the ‘Koha’ Library Management system.
Staff and students may email the library library@loretofoxrock.ie for their login details.
