Our Library is at the heart of school life, fostering reading, research, learning, and creativity. Every student has access to a diverse collection of thousands of books, from literary classics and contemporary fiction to graphic novels and resources that support a wide range of reading interests and abilities.
In 2021, Loreto College Foxrock was recognised as a Well-Read Readers for Life School, reflecting our commitment to promoting reading for pleasure. We believe that reading is one of the most powerful ways to develop imagination, empathy, and lifelong learning, and we encourage every student to discover books they genuinely enjoy.
More than just a place to borrow books, the library is a vibrant and flexible learning environment. Students use the space for independent study, research, and one-to-one support, while book clubs and reading groups provide opportunities to share ideas and discuss literature with others.
A highlight of the school calendar is our annual Readers and Writers Week, which brings authors, poets, journalists, and other creative professionals into the school to inspire students. The week is filled with workshops, talks, competitions, and activities that celebrate reading, writing, and storytelling.
Student voice is central to the ongoing development of the library. Through the Library Council, students help shape the space, suggest improvements, and ensure that the library continues to reflect the interests and needs of its users.
Above all, the library is a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can learn, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
