Reader’s & Writer’s Week 2025 – Pics

Our annual Readers & Writers Week took place recently, and it was a wonderful celebration of stories, creativity, and all things literary at Loreto College Foxrock.
The week began with secret Golden Tickets à la Roald Dahl hidden around the school on Monday, and ended with a Literary Scavenger Hunt for senior students and a lively Spelling Bee for juniors. Throughout the week we were also delighted to welcome visiting authors Alison Weatherby, Andrea Mara, Amy Clarkin, and Bea Fitzgerald, whose talks inspired and energised students across all year groups.
Our overarching costume theme this year was From Page to Screen, the individual book-to-film/TV themes were used specifically for our Friday costume day — and the effort from each year group was fantastic! From Sherlock Holmes and The Hunger Games to Percy Jackson and Bridgerton, the creativity and fun on display made the whole school come alive.
Competitions were a huge highlight, showcasing the incredible imagination and talent of our students. Well done to all our prize-winners across the Great Book Bake Off, the zine and art competitions, the costume contest, the scavenger hunt and spelling bee, and our new Six-Word Poetry competition which was in honour of our President and Poet Michael D. Higgins— with the winning entry “The Quiet Builder: Invisible Hands, Build Empires, Without Applause” by Sophia O’Faoláin in 1st Year.
Thank you to all students and staff who took part and contributed to such a vibrant and memorable week. We captured loads of photos from the celebrations — enjoy the gallery below!
