Green Schools

Green Schools is an international environmental education programme that promotes long-term whole school action for the environment. The aim of Green Schools is to increase students’ awareness of environmental issues and to transfer this knowledge into positive environmental action in the school and also in the wider environment. To achieve Green School status, schools have to complete four themes through seven steps. The themes are litter, energy, water, and transport.

In 2023-2024 Loreto College Foxrock’s Green schools Team will examine the impact of litter and waste on the environment and explore practical means for reducing and minimising the amount of litter and waste produced by the school. We are committed to developing An Taisce’s Green Schools Programme in an effort to become more environmentally friendly and reduce our carbon footprint.

The Green Schools Team will be led by members of the 5th Year Compass Team, and the 6th Year Leadership Team. It is open to all members of the school community.
