Our annual Readers & Writers Week wrapped up just yesterday, and it was a wonderful celebration of stories, creativity, and all things literary at Loreto College Foxrock.
Throughout the first three days we were delighted to welcome visiting writers Alison Weatherby, Dave Rudden, Courtney Smyth, Amy Clarkin, and Molly Furey, whose talks, workshops and activites inspired and energised students across all year groups. Tuesday afternoon saw the return of our secret Golden Tickets à la Roald Dahl hidden around the school with their lucky finders getting a sweet treat. The final day brought the highly anticipated Junior and Senior Spelling Bees and our brilliant winners, Rena and Haya, and runners up Teagan and Malaak brought home the coveted titles.
Also on Thursday we had our costume day and the effort from each year group was fantastic! From book themes such as Matilda and The Hobbit to Coraline and The Wizard of Oz, the creativity and fun on display made the whole school come alive. Prizes were awarded for the most creative costume in each tutor class.
Competitions ran throughout the week for our budding poets, artists, bakers and writers and we are very much looking forward to going through all the submissions and awarding prizes for each competition after the midterm break, keep an eye out! The winners of the Great Book Bake Off were announced before the bell on Thursday with two single person entries and two group entries deservedly nabbing prizes – it was a tough competition with some gorgeous booky creations!
Thank you to all students and staff who took part and contributed to such a vibrant and memorable week. We captured loads of photos from the celebrations — enjoy the gallery below!
