Loreto College Foxrock is committed to the development of the full range of each students’ talents, aptitudes, and potential. To this end, the school offers a wide selection of activities outside the regular school timetable.
Experiences on the stage, the pitch, debating competitions, science fairs and more, each contribute to broadening the horizons and opening adolescent minds and spirits to their own potential.
In Loreto College Foxrock all students have the opportunity to learn life-long skills through our co-curriculum. Clubs and groups meet at lunch times and after school. From Debating to Cookery Club, from Science Club to Justice and Peace, from Gaisce to Craft Club; all of our students are encouraged to participate, and to get involved in the school community. Through these extra-curricular activities, students learn about team-work, leadership, society and culture.
Loreto College Foxrock has a strong tradition of cultural activities with music, debating and drama all part of life in our school.
In addition to providing Music as an exam subject for Junior and Leaving Certificate cycles our music department delivers Music as a co-curricular opportunity. Loreto College Foxrock has 1st Year choir(s), a school choir, string and flute ensembles, trad club and our school orchestra. We perform and compete in Leinster and nationally.
Girls can study music as part of the Junior and Senior curriculum or can opt to take part in musical activities outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to take part and can avail of tuition to learn an instrument, join a choir or get involved in developing their own vocal skills.
Debating has a long tradition in the school and is encouraged for the multifaceted benefits it brings to bear in public speaking and confidence during these formative adolescent years. Our students have consistently excelled in this discipline. Loreto College Foxrock teams regularly represent the college in inter-schools debating competitions. Students grow in confidence, learn to engage the audience and project their voices, to be focused, arrange their thoughts and speak with conviction, all of which are critical life skills.
Along with music and debating, participation in Drama and the development of creative expression are important parts of our education ethos. Opportunities abound for students to take part in various productions throughout the year. Each term we witness individuals grow and develop. Student friendships flourish as a result of these creative endeavours: From Christmas variety performances to school plays, inter-school musicals in TY to our annual drama production. As life skills are developed and individual talents shine, fundamentally, great fun is had and magic happens!
Enriching the lives and the educational experience of our students.
