The Student Council is an elected body that consists of three representatives from each of our year groups from 1st to 6th Year. In September of each new academic year, fresh elections are held, and each year group has an opportunity to actively take part in the democratic process by voting for the students in their own year group to represent them on the Student Council. The elections are organised and run by the previous year’s Student Council and supervised by the Student Council Co-ordinator. Once the eighteen representatives have been elected, they then meet with the Student Council Co-ordinator on a fortnightly basis to discuss issues and matters arising on behalf of the student population.
The Student Council often spearheads initiatives for positive change within the school community and it is a dynamic and proactive committee to be a part of for any student. Some of the functions of the Student Council include, but are not limited to, highlighting issues concerning the student body, eg. uniform policy, running awareness campaigns for areas such as inclusivity and wellbeing, and organising and helping to run the annual Foxrock Games in May of each year.
The Council meets regularly during the school year to discuss any student-related issues which are brought to its attention. If you have any concerns or suggestions, please see one of your student representatives and let them know that you wish your issue to be brought to the Council.
The election took place early this term. Well done to all of those who stood for election and congratulations to the students who have been voted onto the Student Council for this year by their peers.
