World Book Day Highlights- Pics

We had a brilliant celebration of World Book Day last Thursday, with lots of activities around the school to get everyone reading and chatting about books.
Book Tokens
Students received their World Book Day tokens during tutor time and enjoyed choosing from this year’s selection of titles, or getting a discount on their own picks. We still have some spare tokens in the library on the desk for anyone to take, they are valid until the 15th!
Staff “What I’m Reading / Listening To” Posters
Staff decorated their doors with updated posters sharing the books, audiobooks, and podcasts they’re currently enjoying—sparking plenty of great conversations throughout the week.
Bookmark Competition
Our bookmark competition returned, encouraging students (and staff!) to read, borrow, and return books. Every completed bookmark is an entry into the end‑of‑year prize draw.
Staff Book Quiz Winners
Congratulations to Mr. Coyle and Ms. Crumlish, who topped the Staff Book Quiz!Both received National Book Tokens as their prize.
Lunchtime Kahoot Winner
Our Library Council–hosted Kahoot was a huge hit. Well done to Temperance Maguire, this year’s student champion, who also won National Book Tokens.

Proud Day for Foxrock Debating- Pics

Valiant performances from our three teams today in the Inter Loreto Debating Finals. Congratulations to Eve Byrne, Amelia Scallan, Ava Clarke, and Sophie Toole who battled hard in the semis and narrowly missed out on places in the final. Congratulations to our first years Vanessa Maloney and Emily Seery who crushed their semi final and reached the junior final and were pipped for second. A huge thank you to the girls, Mr Kehoe (Junior Co-ordinator), and Ms Lea (Senior Co-ordinator) for all their hard work and for doing our school proud. Among the adjudicators were Foxrock past pupils Mya Madigan, Lucy Mullins, Hilary Igbinomwanhia and Laura McMenamin – a lovely reflection of the strength and tradition of debating in Foxrock.

Curtain Falls on Fifth Year Production of Cluedo- Pics

The final performance of this year’s 5th year play, Cluedo, took place yesterday, bringing a fantastic run of performances to a close. Our Fifth Year students did a brilliant job bringing the classic mystery to life on stage, entertaining audiences with plenty of suspense, humour, and dramatic twists as everyone tried to work out who did it, where, and with what.
A production like this takes a huge amount of work, and much of it was done in the students’ and teachers’ own free time. Rehearsals, preparation, and organisation often took place after school hours, on weekends and over midterm, showing real dedication and commitment from everyone involved.
Special thanks go to the teachers who organised and ran the production — Mr Johnson, Ms Finnie, Ms Slattery and Ms O’Flynn — for the time and energy they gave to make the show possible.
Finally, thank you to our wonderful school community for coming along to support the performances, for donating raffle prizes, and for helping to make the event such a success. Well done to everyone involved both on stage and behind the scenes for putting together such an entertaining and memorable production, which adds to the rich and longstanding tradition of the arts in our school.

College Fair- Pics

Attached are some photos from yesterday’s College Fair, which was held in the Sports Hall.
Students from 6th Year, 5th Year, Transition Year, 3rd Year and 2nd Year were invited to attend throughout the afternoon. Parents were also very welcome to visit the fair, meet representatives from a wide range of colleges and institutions, and enjoy a tea or coffee while exploring the different stands.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from 21 colleges and organisations, including DCU, UCD, Maynooth University, University of Galway, Technological University Dublin (TUD), the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), Dublin Business School (DBS), Griffith College, The Lir Academy, and a number of further education colleges such as Ballsbridge College, BIFE, Blackrock Further Education Institute, Dundrum College of Further Education, Dún Laoghaire Further Education Institute and Stillorgan College. Students also had the opportunity to speak with representatives from professional organisations including the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Society of Auditors.
The event was a great success, with highly positive feedback from the colleges, parents and students alike. It provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about future study options, ask questions directly to college representatives, and begin thinking about the many pathways available to them after school.
Events like this require a great deal of planning and teamwork. A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the day run so smoothly, and especially to Ms O’Malley for her dedication, organisation and energy in coordinating such a successful event.

More Badminton Success – U14 and U16- Pics

A huge congratualtions to our U14 Badminton Teams who all reached the Dublin Finals this week, an incredible acheivment at one age level.
The U 14 A Team,Yilin Wu, Tanaya Mohanty, Darcey Lavin, Yashvi Rajesh Kannan, won gold in their final and now progress to the Leinster Finals next week.
The U 14 B Team, Grace O’Callaghan, Isabella Eogan, Sarah O’Callaghan, Kathleen Mac Dermott, finsihed runners up in their final.
The U 14 C Team, Mia Fan, Katie Hinchy-Dalin, Nina Huang, Lara Kelly, also won gold in their final.
A massive well done to all the players and Ray their coach.
Our U16 A Badminon Team played in their Leinster Finals on Thursday and finished runner up in a competition with some very strong schools. Well done girls on another incredible season.

Winter Assessments Key Informatipon- Pics

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
As you are aware the Winter Assessments begin this Thursday 20th November for all 1st, 2nd, TY and 5th year students.
All students have been given their new exam timetable, information regarding their exams and what is being assessed. We aim to simulate the state exam setting to best prepare students for this exam environment.
Your support is crucial during this busy time. To assist you, please see the attached ‘exam etiquette’ document which has been shared with all students. It is vital that students are in the school building from 8.30am so that they can get themselves organised and be relaxed before their exams begin.
In the gallery you will see the exam timetables for 1st, 2nd, TY and 5th year. 3rd and 6th years have full school days as normal (20th & 21st Nov) and their new block timetable runs from Monday 24th- 27th Nov).
