Principal's Message to all Parents/Guardians

Principal's Message to all Parents/Guardians

Below is a message to all our parents/guardians from our Principal, Ms Bernadette Prendiville along with a link to some prayers and meditations shared with us by Sr Kathleen Fitzpatrick from the Loreto Education Centre.

Dear Parent or Guardian

Schools have now been directed by an Taoiseach to stay closed until April 19th.  This would mean that schools may be able to reopen on Monday 20th April 2020.  We are in unprecedented times and our teachers are working hard to readjust to working remotely.  This has brought challenges for students and teachers alike.  It has also placed huge stress on the students in exam years.  We are coordinating the work of the school community remotely.

All students have access to Office 365 and teachers are using a variety of technologies from that suite to communicate with students.   The type of technology being used is determined by the teacher depending on where they are in their courses and the type of work to be covered.  Students may contact teachers directly if they are concerned with any particular aspect of their work.  In addition publishers have made all of their school texts available on line and websites such as scoilnet and pdst.ie have a wide array of resources.

If you as a parent are concerned regarding your daughter's progress or if you feel she is in need of extra moral support, please let her year head know.  If you are concerned regarding a particular subject, please contact that teacher directly.  We are doing all that we can to support our students through this difficult and challenging period.  We can help when we know what the difficulties are.

Some physical activities are posted daily on the school's twitter and app.  We also have some daily reflections and prayers that might bring solace at this difficult time.

I hope you and your families are all keeping well at this time.  Many of our community have young children, elderly parents or relatives or even illness in their family.  I wish to extend my good wishes to all.   I have attached below some prayers and reflections from Sr Kathleen Fitzpatrick in the Loreto Education Centre. We will come through this period by all working together.
