In Hope & Remembrance, ‘Strictly for Aoife’ saw over one thousand people in O’Reilly Hall UCD for an extraordinary fundraising event of pure positivity, on Saturday night 23rd April. Thirty-four Loreto College Foxrock staff, parents, past pupils and friends have been strictly dancing outside their comfort zones for eight weeks in preparation. The results were beyond spectacular. Our Judges, Miriam O’Callaghan, David McCullagh, Eoin McDermott and Geoff Minogue along with our voting audience and our generous sponsors determined the talented winning couples.

Mrs Prendiville, Principal, in her words of Hope & Remembrance spoke of the ‘terrible tragedy in Berkeley last summer that brought us here this evening, one that shocked us all and affected us deeply…………The events of June 2015 were much bigger than our school but they brought us into the community and they brought the community to us. Community is about people, locality, commonality, a group with shared purpose, in Irish the word Muintir also means family. We are all here tonight, as a community, to support Aoife in her recovery.
This event would not be possible without a very large number of people coming together, giving freely of their time, energy and resources to make it all happen. It has not been a burden to anyone involved, despite the long hours of practice and planning that have gone on. The sense of purpose, fun, and camaraderie has been common to all those who have been involved’.
Joanne Brock, our team leader, shared the outstanding fundraising result at the close of the evening - €65,000. Our goal has been reached and exceeded – well done to all!
